Description
Gingerbread cookies are a holiday staple. This recipe is slightly different as it uses honey instead of molasses.

For the dough
- 12.3 oz (350 g) all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ginger
- 1/2 tsp cloves
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp finely grated orange zest
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 4 oz (115 g) butter
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup (120ml) honey
For the glaze
- 4 oz (115 g) powdered sugar
- 4 tsp milk
- food coloring
Instructions
- Sift flour with baking soda and spices. Add orange zest, softened butter, honey and eggs. Knead into a dough, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least two hours.
- Roll out the dough onto a lightly floured surface or between two sheets of baking paper and cut out using cookie cutters.
- Preheat oven to 356 F (180 C). Bake for around 15 minutes. Let cool completely.
- Make the glaze: whisk powdered sugar with milk and add food coloring of your own choice. Pipe onto cookies using piping bag which you’ve cut slightly on top.
