Description

These honey and thyme wine-poached pears are incredibly tender and infused with delicate aromas of sweet wine, honey, and thyme.


Ingredients

  • 750ml (25 fluid ounces) sweet white wine
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 3 sprigs of thyme
  • 4 pears, peeled and kept whole

Instructions

  1. Pour the wine into a small saucepan and add the honey and thyme.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
  3. Carefully peel the pears, ensuring they remain whole.
  4. Add the peeled pears to the saucepan.
  5. Reduce the heat to a gentle simmer and cook for about 15 minutes, or until the pears are tender and can be easily pierced with a fork.
  6. Remove the pears from the saucepan and let them cool slightly.
  7. Serve the pears warm or at room temperature, drizzled with a few spoonfuls of the cooking liquid.

Notes

Choose a stronger or milder honey and wine based on your flavor preference. This dessert can be enjoyed warm or at room temperature. It makes a lovely light festive pudding.
