It’s soup season and we are serious about soup season. To go with so many of our hearty, warm bowls, we have picked out a wine to pair. This Italian bottle is perfect to take your usual soup night to a whole new level of special.
Soup season is upon us! And we couldn’t be happier. While we love soup nights at home, sometimes they feel a little to casual or simple. So to dress things up, bring some pizzaz or added flavor, we’re adding wine. To keep things simple, we found a wine that will pair with almost every hearty soup or stew you will serve this season. Whether it’s just you and your family on a weeknight or you are hosting a soup dinner party, here’s a great bottle to serve.
The wine we chose is from Vietti and they have quite the reputation for producing wines of the high quality. Today, Vietti is managed by the family’s fifth generation, winemaker Luca Currado, and still has its cellar, the oldest parts of which date back to the 17th century, in the small medieval village of Castiglione Falletto, the heart of Piedmont’s famous “Langhe” region. Plus, we love their beautiful wine labels.
2015 “Perbacco” Nebbiolo Langhe DOC $26
This wine is perfect with that favorite bowl of chili loaded up with sharp cheddar cheese or the wild game stew simmering on your stove. It’s also ideal with a thick squash soup and so, so many more soup recipes. This wine is made with 100% Nebbiolo grapes and is fruity up front, but develops into flavors of spices on your tongue. Its medium body comes with power and elegance that makes it perfect for a soup night tomorrow or aging it your cellar for a bit.
Happy soup season!
