The wine we chose is from Vietti and they have quite the reputation for producing wines of the high quality. Today, Vietti is managed by the family’s fifth generation, winemaker Luca Currado, and still has its cellar, the oldest parts of which date back to the 17th century, in the small medieval village of Castiglione Falletto, the heart of Piedmont’s famous “Langhe” region. Plus, we love their beautiful wine labels.

2015 “Perbacco” Nebbiolo Langhe DOC $26
This wine is perfect with that favorite bowl of chili loaded up with sharp cheddar cheese or the wild game stew simmering on your stove. It’s also ideal with a thick squash soup and so, so many more soup recipes. This wine is made with 100% Nebbiolo grapes and is fruity up front, but develops into flavors of spices on your tongue. Its medium body comes with power and elegance that makes it perfect for a soup night tomorrow or aging it your cellar for a bit.

Happy soup season!
