Description

Grilled Lemon Shishito Peppers are a quick and flavorful appetizer, perfect for adding a touch of spice to your meal. These slender peppers are charred to perfection and served with fresh lemon slices.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 quart Shishito peppers
  • 1-2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2-4 lemon slices
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. Wash the Shishito peppers thoroughly and let them dry in a colander.
  2. Drizzle the peppers with a small amount of olive oil, ensuring they are lightly coated.
  3. Heat a sauté pan over medium to high heat without adding any oil.
  4. Add the peppers to the hot pan and cook for 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are blistered and slightly charred.
  5. Remove the peppers from the pan and season with salt to taste.
  6. Serve immediately with lemon slices on the side for squeezing over the peppers.

Notes

Shishito peppers are mostly mild, but occasionally you may find a spicy one. They are perfect as an appetizer or as part of a taco bar. These peppers are best served immediately after grilling. If you can’t find Shishito peppers, Padron peppers can be used as a substitute.
