Hi there, I’m Morgan! Pleasure to meet you. Behind the…
A homemade blueberry syrup rounds out a tart spring berry cocktail made with rum and topped off with a fizz of sparkling soda.
Spring and warmer weather (admittedly, living on the coast in California where I can see the ocean, I use my imagination when it comes to “cooler weather”) inevitably switch my drink desires from something dark and moody to something light and fruity. I’m man enough to admit that I enjoy a quality fruit-based cocktail — because they’re amazing. Let’s do, shall we? Blueberry Rum Fizz, you’re a go!
What’s in this springtime elixir? I’ll give you a hint: the clues are in the name. You have blueberries. You have rum. You have some fizzle. The secret ingredient? Blueberry liqueur. BOOM!
The first thing you should secure is that blueberry liqueur. Luckily for us, our friends over at Tamworth Distillery (founded by Steven Grasse, creator of Hendricks gin) hooked us up with some of their Black Trumpet Blueberry cordial, so we were set. If you get a chance, hunt it down, the addition of black trumpet mushrooms makes it very interesting (in a good way).
Next, you’ll need a quality white rum. The richness that rum gets from the sugarcane plays fantastically with blueberries. You get a nice tart, you get a nice sweet, you get some friendly roundness — yes, we have a match made for the ages.
Yes, if you’re wondering, you can get a cheap white rum — totally within your rights. As always, this is a judgement free zone. Though, if you’re doing this for yourself, I’m voting for you to spoil yourself. Celebrate you, you crazy, wild diamond you.
Finally? Some sugar, some blueberries and some club soda. It’s a fizz for a reason.
So, we have our rum, blueberry liqueur, blueberries, sugar and club soda. Let’s toss those together, kick up our feet and admire some flowers (because spring).

Hi there, I’m Morgan! Pleasure to meet you. Behind the camera, that’s Alice. She’s the strong, quiet type. After a lifetime of love with food, drinks and everything related, we got tired of people asking us “What should I drink this weekend?” Using the power of my English degree (and bartending-certified experience) and her mean photography abilities, we decided to let everyone online know what we're drinking this weekend so they could join in with us! Cheers!
