Description

Crunchy pretzels are dipped in spicy cayenne dark chocolate and topped with sweet candied almonds for a snack that’s both sweet and spicy.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 1/4 cups (300 ml) dark chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup (180 ml) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 cups (480 ml) pretzels
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 cup (240 ml) candied almonds, finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Transfer the chopped candied almonds to a bowl and set aside.
  2. Prepare a double boiler by placing a heatproof bowl over a saucepan filled with about 1/4 inch of water. Ensure the water does not touch the bottom of the bowl.
  3. Fill the bowl with 1 1/4 cups of dark chocolate chips and 3/4 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips. Stir occasionally until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
  4. Once melted, add 1 tsp of cayenne pepper to the chocolate and stir until fully incorporated.
  5. Dip each pretzel into the cayenne chocolate mixture, ensuring it is fully coated. Allow excess chocolate to drip off.
  6. Place the chocolate-covered pretzels on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Sprinkle the finely chopped candied almonds over the chocolate-coated pretzels while the chocolate is still wet.
  8. Allow the pretzels to set at room temperature or refrigerate until the chocolate is firm.

Notes

  • Store the pretzels in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
  • You can substitute regular almonds if candied almonds are not available, but the sweetness will be reduced.
  • Adjust the amount of cayenne to suit your spice preference.
