Frequently Asked Questions
What is St. Germain, and do I need the specific 360 vodka brand?
St. Germain is an elderflower liqueur that contributes the floral note the recipe describes. It is the ingredient that gives the cocktail its dreamy, floral character alongside the grapefruit juice. The recipe specifies 360 vodka (1/2 oz) by name, but any clean, neutral vodka will work.
Why is the champagne added separately rather than shaken with the other ingredients?
Shaking champagne would cause it to go flat instantly. The instructions say to shake the vodka, grapefruit juice, honey syrup, and St. Germain over ice, then strain into a very cold martini glass and top with 1 oz of champagne last.
