Description

This homemade plum jam captures the essence of fresh plums with a perfect balance of sweet and tangy flavors, ideal for spreading on toast or enhancing your favorite desserts.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb fresh plums, pitted and chopped
  • 200g caster sugar (adjust to taste for desired sweetness)
  • Enough water to cover the bottom of the pan

Instructions

  1. Begin by washing and pitting the plums. Chop them into small pieces.
  2. Place the chopped plums into a large pot. Add the caster sugar and just enough water to cover the bottom of the pan.
  3. Cook the mixture on medium heat. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking. If the mixture begins to stick or burn, add a little more water.
  4. Continue to cook for about 30 minutes, or until the mixture thickens and reaches your desired jam consistency.
  5. Once cooked, carefully pour the hot jam into sterilized jars. Seal immediately.
  6. Allow the jam to cool before storing it in the refrigerator.

Notes

Ensure the plums are ripe for the best flavor and sweetness in your jam. You can adjust the sugar to taste if you prefer a sweeter jam. Store the jam in sterilized jars to keep it fresh longer. This jam pairs wonderfully with toast, cakes, or yogurt.
