Cookies and Cream Candied Apples

I still remember the first time that I tried a Cookies and Cream caramel apple at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory so I decided to make them at home.  They are super easy to make.  Simply swirl the apples in melted white chocolate and then dip them in crushed Oreo cookies.  The white chocolate hardens quickly so you can eat them almost immediately.  Spread leftover melted white chocolate on waxed paper and top it with crushed Oreo cookies to make a decadent cookies & cream white chocolate bark that will be just as popular as the candied apples.

Description

These Cookies and Cream Candied Apples feature a luscious coating of white chocolate and crushed Oreo cookies, making them a quick and indulgent treat.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 apples, washed and dried
  • 1 cup (180g) white chocolate chips
  • 5 Oreo cookies, crushed
  • Lollipop sticks, optional

Instructions

  1. Insert lollipop sticks into the stem side of the apples if desired.
  2. Melt the white chocolate in a double boiler over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth and fully melted.
  3. Dip each apple into the melted white chocolate, turning to coat evenly.
  4. Immediately roll the chocolate-coated apples in the crushed Oreo cookies, pressing gently to adhere.
  5. Place the apples on a sheet of waxed paper and allow the chocolate to harden, which should take just a few minutes.
  6. For an extra treat, spread any leftover melted white chocolate on waxed paper, sprinkle with remaining crushed Oreo cookies, and let it harden to create cookies & cream white chocolate bark.

Notes

Use fresh, firm apples for the best results. If you don’t have a double boiler, melt the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring in between. Store any leftover chocolate bark in an airtight container. These apples are best enjoyed the same day they are made.
