Description
Glazed bacon, creamy blue cheese, and a flavorful bison patty make this burger a grilling winner. Fire up the grill and enjoy this summer favorite.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450 g) ground bison
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 1/8 tsp pepper
- 4 Burger Blue Slices
- 8 slices maple brown sugar bacon
- 4 hamburger buns
- Ketchup
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. In a small bowl, mix together 2 tbsp of maple syrup and 2 tbsp of brown sugar. Set aside.
- Place a cooling rack on a sheet pan and arrange 8 slices of bacon in a single layer on the rack. Brush the bacon with the maple syrup and brown sugar mixture.
- Bake the bacon in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until crispy and caramelized. Remove from the oven and set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine 1 lb of ground bison with 1/2 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp garlic powder, 1/4 tsp onion powder, and 1/8 tsp pepper. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
- Divide the bison mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each into a patty.
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Grill the bison patties for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
- During the last minute of grilling, place a slice of Burger Blue Cheese on each patty and close the grill lid to melt the cheese slightly.
- Toast the hamburger buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Assemble the burgers by placing each bison patty on a toasted bun, topping with 2 slices of the glazed bacon, and adding ketchup to taste. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Bison is leaner than beef and offers more protein with fewer calories.
- Castello’s blue cheese slices are perfect for burgers, avoiding the crumbly mess of traditional blue cheese.
- The maple syrup and brown sugar glaze on the bacon adds a sweet and savory touch.
- Serve immediately for the best taste and texture.
