Description

Glazed bacon, creamy blue cheese, and a flavorful bison patty make this burger a grilling winner. Fire up the grill and enjoy this summer favorite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450 g) ground bison
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1/8 tsp pepper
  • 4 Burger Blue Slices
  • 8 slices maple brown sugar bacon
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Ketchup
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. In a small bowl, mix together 2 tbsp of maple syrup and 2 tbsp of brown sugar. Set aside.
  2. Place a cooling rack on a sheet pan and arrange 8 slices of bacon in a single layer on the rack. Brush the bacon with the maple syrup and brown sugar mixture.
  3. Bake the bacon in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until crispy and caramelized. Remove from the oven and set aside.
  4. In a large bowl, combine 1 lb of ground bison with 1/2 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp garlic powder, 1/4 tsp onion powder, and 1/8 tsp pepper. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
  5. Divide the bison mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each into a patty.
  6. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Grill the bison patties for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
  7. During the last minute of grilling, place a slice of Burger Blue Cheese on each patty and close the grill lid to melt the cheese slightly.
  8. Toast the hamburger buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes, or until golden brown.
  9. Assemble the burgers by placing each bison patty on a toasted bun, topping with 2 slices of the glazed bacon, and adding ketchup to taste. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Bison is leaner than beef and offers more protein with fewer calories.
  • Castello’s blue cheese slices are perfect for burgers, avoiding the crumbly mess of traditional blue cheese.
  • The maple syrup and brown sugar glaze on the bacon adds a sweet and savory touch.
  • Serve immediately for the best taste and texture.
