Frequently Asked Questions

Why shake the blackberries whole instead of mudding them beforehand?

Shaking the 3 whole blackberries with the other ingredients breaks them up just enough to release their juice and give the drink its blush colour. You get a lighter, cleaner result than mudding, which can turn the drink murky.

Why use only 1 ounce of whiskey in this cocktail?

I deliberately went light on the Bushmills and heavier on the lemon simple syrup so the citrus and blackberry come through clearly. It makes for a more sessionable drink, especially if you are serving it on a weeknight or at a spring brunch.
