Made with tequila, chartreuse, lime, and lots of shiso, Mr. Flores is a beautiful, bright, fragrant, and refreshing drink worth creating and imbibing for the summer.
Initially created by Raul Flores of Pegu Club, whom Kenta Goto of Bar Goto previously worked alongside, Mr. Flores is a beautiful Japanese-inspired cocktail recipe. Courtesy of Bar Goto ( and also featured on the drinks menu), Mr. Flores is an ideal drink for the summer. You only need a few simple ingredients such as silver tequila, shiso, and yellow chartreuse to create this herbaceous, aromatic, and bright beverage.
Located in Brooklyn’s Prospect Heights near Barclays Center, Bar Goto Niban blends sophisticated Japanese cocktail tradition with casual NYC drinking culture. From bar maven Kenta Goto, Niban is perfect for locals and tourists, whether stopping in before or after a concert or grabbing their soon-to-launch bottled cocktails to a rooftop gathering or picnic this summer! The Brooklyn favorite has launched new summer cocktails, including the Plum Sloe Fizz and bartender Koharu Usui’s Kiku, and the reintroduced Jasmine & Apricot, Yuzu Sansho Sour, L.E.S., Plum Boulevardier, and Hojicha Old Fashioned. Well-established cocktails remain on the menu, including the renowned Sakura Martini – delicate and clean, served with a preserved cherry blossom.
This series allows readers to go beyond the well-known recipes using agave, i.e., a combination of tequila, lime juice, and orange liqueur. Break out the cocktail shaker and try these contemporary agave-based creations that come straight from the cocktail shakers of today’s top bartenders.

I enjoy listening to the stories of the people who devote their time to fill our stomachs with scrumptious food. And of course, experiencing and sharing my thoughts on the cuisines that span across the world.
