Frequently Asked Questions
Can I add mix-ins to this banana bread?
Yes — the recipe notes you can add walnuts, pecans, or almonds and/or chopped chocolate chips to the batter before baking.
Why does this recipe use vegan butter?
The Santos Family calls for vegan butter (1/3 cup / 80 ml) as their household preference. Regular melted butter works as a direct 1:1 substitute if you prefer.
How ripe should the bananas be?
The recipe specifies 3 ripe bananas, peeled and mashed. The riper the bananas, the sweeter and more flavorful your loaf will be — very spotty, soft bananas are ideal.
