These cheesy biscuits are super easy to make and take less than thirty minutes, from start to finish. Plus, they are loaded with tons of robust garlic flavor.
If I could have one thing for the rest of my life it would be these biscuits. Tender and fluffy on the inside, firm with a slight crunch on the outside. Super cheesy, these biscuits melt in your mouth and are loaded with tons of garlic flavor.
They are incredibly easy to make and taste amazing.
The biscuits come out of the oven perfectly golden on the outside, dripping with our homemade garlic herb butter. If you love garlic you will love these biscuits. There is garlic in the batter, in the cheese and drizzled on top.
I make my own buttermilk using fresh squeezed lemon juice and milk. It is so much better and cheaper than buying store bought buttermilk.
How to Make Golden Garlic Butter Biscuits with Havarti Cheese
For the Biscuits:
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder. Set aside.
- In a small bowl, stir together the milk and lemon juice. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until the milk begins to curdle (this creates buttermilk).
- Add the melted butter to the buttermilk mixture and stir until combined.
- Gradually fold the buttermilk mixture into the dry ingredients, mixing gently until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Fold in the grated Havarti cheese.
- Scoop ¼ cup portions of batter onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. For easier scooping, spray your measuring cup with non-stick cooking spray.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and firm to the touch.
For the Garlic Herb Butter:
- In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, and dried parsley.
- As soon as the biscuits come out of the oven, brush them generously with the garlic herb butter.
To Serve:
Serve the biscuits warm. They’re best enjoyed fresh from the oven.
Recipe Notes
- Cheese Choice: If you prefer, you can use another mild, melty cheese like Monterey Jack or cheddar.
- Storage: These biscuits are best eaten fresh. If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container and reheat them in the oven or toaster oven for best results.
- Adjusting Garlic Flavor: If you love garlic, feel free to double the garlic in the herb butter for extra flavor.

I added a little rosemary to the herb butter, and it was incredible.
This is my go-to recipe for biscuits now. They’re always fluffy and delicious.
