Cherries On Ice

I love taking fresh cherries and serving them on ice.

This is a perfect afternoon snack by the pool; the perfect ending to a great grilled summer meal; or a perfect pairing with some sparkling wine at cocktail time.

I love taking fresh cherries and serving them on ice.

There is something magical about summer time, and fruit is a HUGE part of the magic for me. This summer, I’ve been totally obsessed with peaches and cherries.  Perhaps its the fleeting nature of these two fruit.  Perhaps it’s the bounty that we’ve seen at the local farmer’s markets.  Whatever the reason, our home fridge is PACKED FULL of peaches and cherries.

I’ve been somewhat creative with peaches this summer.  Grilling them or creating peach crostini and sangria.

But cherries.

Cherries require nothing but a big bowl of ice.

I serve these all summer long.  And it couldn’t be easier.

  1. Grab a big pretty bowl
  2. Dump in cherries – any variety will do
  3. Top with crushed ice
  4. Serve and Enjoy!

It’s a perfect afternoon snack by the pool; the perfect ending to a great grilled summer meal; or a perfect pairing with some sparkling wine at cocktail time.

So, before those cherries disappear, try them over ice.  You won’t be disappointed.
