The Mayfair Townhouse – A Luxurious Home Away From Home in the Heart of London

In the heart of London’s most regal district, lies the Mayfair Townhouse – a hotel that personifies the celebration of old style British luxury, and combines it with modern aesthetics and top class service.

The Mayfair Townhouse consists of a series of 15 interconnected Georgian buildings on Half Moon Street – in the center of Mayfair – that have been renovated to house a most charming, quirky and welcoming little luxury hotel. Located near Green Park, it is conveniently positioned for those wanting to explore central London. Piccadilly is around the corner, and you’ll be able to stroll to Hyde Park, Trafalgar Square and shopping on Bond Street without straining yourself or your walking shoes.

The rooms and suites at The Mayfair Townhouse are individually decorated, and there’s something for every taste and need. You’ll obviously find some more traditional style hotel rooms like the Executive Rooms and Deluxe Rooms that cater to couples and small families.

But there are also a series of spacious suites like the Green Suite Park Suite, which overlooks the historic townhouses of Half Moon Street, or the decadent Art Deco inspired Garden Suites with beautifully landscaped patios. The bathrooms are lavishly decorated, many with both walk in showers and tubs. And because of the nature of the hotel – spanning multiple connected townhouses – every room has its own charm, its own little quirks and gimmicks. And for anyone who loves a hotel with a personality (like we do here at Honest Cooking), that’s a true blessing.

The beating heart of the Mayfair Townhouse is the Dandy Bar. Located just next to the reception, this swanky cocktail bar obviously serves as the hotel’s libation hub, but also its main meeting point, and restaurant. The Dandy Bar serves some excellent cocktails that are surprisingly humanely priced considering its prestigious location.

Try the Michelin cocktail, a rather decadent – and delicious – concoction of truffled tequila, rosemary Cointreau, lime juice and the bar’s own spiced agave. The Dandy Bar also serves upgraded bar grub, ranging from sandwiches and burgers to seafood and steaks.

We loved the harissa spiced prawns, served with labneh and cucumber granita, and the rib-eye served with triple cooked chips and a perfectly whipped bearnaise sauce was delicious too. Our favorite though, was probably The Mayfair Townhouse Burger, which came with caramelized onions, smoky bacon and cheddar. Truly one of the better hotel burgers we’ve had recently.

There’s a stream of people coming through The Dandy Bar during the day, but the place gets even busier in the evenings, with locals and hotel guests merrily mingling over nibbles and drinks into the wee hours. The place has a real vibe, more authentic than a regular hotel bar, and it makes The Mayfair Townhouse more of a destination than “just” a hotel.

The basement of The Mayfair Townhouse serves as the main hub for your fitness amenities and also houses the very elegantly designed breakfast restaurant.
