Frequently Asked Questions
Are the ramen noodles cooked or used raw?
The noodles are used uncooked — the recipe simply combines all salad ingredients and pours the dressing over. The raw ramen adds a satisfying crunch that softens slightly as the dressed salad chills.
What should I do with the ramen flavor packet?
The recipe specifies to reserve the Nissin brand instant ramen flavor packets for another use — the salad has its own dressing made from salad oil, vinegar, sugar, salt, pepper, sesame oil, and toasted sesame seeds.
Can I vary this salad?
Yes — the recipe includes a Variations section that suggests adding frozen peas or swapping in Sapporo Ichiban brand ramen noodles for a slightly different result.
