Why You Should be Drinking It:
Drinking this wine feels like like you’re at a cocktail party where all the other guests are dressed out in ridiculously lavish outfits, and all of a sudden a grey-haired gentleman walks in, just wearing a a well tailored dinner jacket and a sly smile. Whispers across the room. Who is that dude? Obviously, he steals the show. But he doesn’t do it by being the most lavish, the most exclusive or the most outrageous, but rather the opposite – by being the most stylish and confident.
That’s what this wine is. In a world where screaming the loudest seems to be most rewarded these days, we need wines that are just quietly confident and stylish. That’s why this is a Wine You Should Be Drinking.
The Wine:
Domaine de la Galopiere
Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru ‘Aux Clous’

The Winery:
Domaine de la Galopière is a Burgundian winery in the Côte de Beaune, based in Bligny les Beaune, that belongs to 5h and 6th generation father and son winemakers Gabriel and Vincent Fournier.
They farm 10.5 hectares of vineyards in multiple sections of the Côte de Beaune, working just south of Chassagne-Montrachet through multiple appellations right up to the Corton Grand Cru slope (Meursault, Pommard, Savigny lès Beaune, Ladoix, Aloxe-Corton).
The philosophy of the estate is to cultivate wine that carries the respect and tradition of the local terroir, delivering drinking experiences that are clean, pure and without too much manipulation or excessive wood.
The Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru ‘Aux Clous’ is perhaps the best representative of that philosophy. As befitting a 1er Cru, it’s grand, proud and striking – without being imposing.
I love Burgundy wines, have never had this one though. I wonder if it is available in the States?
I love the descriptions on these wine articles, they are both hilarious and spot on!
