  • 1/2 cups (118 ml) certified gluten free old fashioned oats
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 4 dates soaked in warm water for 5-10 minutes
  • 1/2 cups (118 ml) good quality milk chocolate melted (or dark)
  • 2 pinches salt

Notes

  • Toasted pistachios will enhance the flavor; toast them lightly in a dry pan before blending.
  • For a vegan option, use a plant-based milk chocolate and ensure your oats are certified vegan.
  • Store the bites in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week to maintain freshness and prevent them from becoming soft.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I substitute the dates with another sweetener?

You can use other dried fruits like raisins or apricots as a substitute, but keep in mind that they may alter the flavor and texture of the bites.

How do I properly soak the dates before using them?

Soak the dates in warm water for about 10-15 minutes to soften them, which makes them easier to blend into the mixture.

What should I do if my mixture is too dry to form into bites?

If the mixture is too dry, try adding a small amount of water or a bit more melted chocolate to help it bind better.
