Description

Celebrate National Caramel Month with this delicious caramel apple pie featuring a crumble top and a drizzle of honey caramel sauce.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 whole pie crust
  • 6 cups peeled and sliced apples
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 4 tablespoons flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup flour (for topping)
  • 1 1/2 sticks butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup honey caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the peeled and sliced apples with the lemon juice, sugar, 4 tablespoons of flour, and salt. Mix well to coat the apples evenly. Set aside.
  3. For the crumb topping, in another bowl, cut the butter into 1/2 cup of flour using a pastry cutter or two forks until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the brown sugar, oats, and cinnamon until well combined.
  4. Place the pie crust in a pie dish and fill it with the apple mixture, spreading it evenly.
  5. Sprinkle the crumb topping evenly over the apples.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Drizzle the honey caramel sauce over the top before serving.

Notes

You can use store-bought pie crust to save time. The honey caramel sauce adds a rich flavor, so don’t skip it. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
