Description

Your next free morning, linger over these sweet cornmeal waffles made with buttermilk.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup AP flour
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 Tbsp butter (melted)
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Instructions

  1. preheat your waffle iron (spray with non-stick spray if needed)
  2. in a large bowl whisk together the flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt
  3. in another bowl whisk together the buttermilk, eggs, butter, and vanilla
  4. pour wet ingredients over the dry and whisk just until combined
  5. pour batter in the center of iron (amount will depend on type and size of iron), close, and cook (my iron takes about 3 minutes) until golden and crisp
  6. keep waffles warm in a 200 degree oven while you finish the batter
  7. serve with your favorite toppings
