Description

Classic Swedish Chokladbollar are no-bake chocolate balls made with oats, cocoa, and a hint of coffee, rolled in coconut flakes for a delightful treat.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1/4 lb (115 g) or 1 stick unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 2 1/2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract or 1 tbsp vanilla sugar
  • 1 tbsp strong coffee, cold
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • Coconut flakes, for rolling

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl or using a food processor, mix together the butter, sugar, and coffee until well combined and smooth.
  2. Add the rolled oats, vanilla extract or vanilla sugar, and cocoa powder to the mixture. Continue mixing until all ingredients are thoroughly combined and the butter is evenly distributed.
  3. Once the mixture is well blended, use your hands to shape it into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter.
  4. Roll each ball in coconut flakes until fully coated.
  5. Enjoy immediately or refrigerate for a firmer texture.

Notes

  • These chocolate balls are a popular treat in Sweden, especially among children as they require no cooking.
  • You can substitute the espresso with instant coffee if preferred.
  • For a different twist, try rolling the balls in sprinkles instead of coconut.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
