- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 medium-sized red onion, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger paste
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon garam masala
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 can (14 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
- Salt to taste
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add onion and cook until soft.
- Stir in ginger paste and garlic, cooking for another minute.
- Add garam masala, cumin, coriander, turmeric, and cayenne pepper. Cook for 30 seconds.
- Transfer mixture to a slow cooker. Stir in crushed tomatoes and yogurt.
- Add shrimp, season with salt, and stir to coat.
- Cover and cook on low for 4 hours.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
Notes
For a spicier dish, add more tandoori masala or a pinch of cayenne pepper. Serve with basmati rice or naan for a complete meal. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
