Description

A sophisticated appetizer featuring fresh, sushi-grade salmon, bright dill, and a hint of Dijon. Perfect for a special occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 loaf nut and seed bread
  • 1/4 pounds (113 g) smoked salmon
  • 1/2 pounds (227 g) skinless fresh salmon fillet
  • 2 tbsp black caviar
  • 2 tbsp course Dijon mustard
  • 2 tbsp minced red onion
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh dill
  • 1/2 a lemon (1/2 a lemon)
  • 1 tbsp good olive oil
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Cut the salmon and smoked salmon into small dice.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine salmon, red onion, mustard, olive oil, and dill. Season with salt, pepper, and fresh lemon juice to taste.
  3. To serve, spoon salmon tartare into a ring mold on a plate and press down lightly. Spoon caviar over salmon tartare and serve with bread.

Notes

  • Ensure your salmon is sushi-grade for safety; do not substitute.
  • For a milder flavor, reduce the amount of Dijon mustard or use a milder mustard.
  • Prepare the tartare just before serving to maintain the salmon’s freshness and texture.
