For the dough
- 2.5 cups (250 g) all purpose flour
- 3 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 cup (125 g) cream cheese
- 3 tbsp (50 ml) milk
- 3 tbsp (50 ml) vegetable oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 egg white
Optional: for the filling
- grated cheese, ham cut into small cubes, cottage cheese…
For the glaze
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 tbsp milk
- sesame or flax seeds
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (355°F).
- Sift the flour and baking powder into a large mixing bowl.
- Add cream cheese, milk, vegetable oil, salt, and egg white to the dry ingredients.
- Combine the ingredients and knead the mixture until it forms a smooth dough.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
- Cut the dough into squares or your preferred shape.
- If using, place a small amount of grated cheese in the center of each square before folding or rolling them into buns.
- Arrange the buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the buns are golden brown.
Notes
These buns are perfect for parties or unexpected guests. Double the ingredients to make a larger batch. You can add grated cheese as a filling for extra flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
