Description

These quick and easy cheese buns are made with cream cheese and baking powder, requiring no rising time. Perfect for parties or unexpected guests.


Ingredients

For the dough

  • 2.5 cups (250 g) all purpose flour
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup (125 g) cream cheese
  • 3 tbsp (50 ml) milk
  • 3 tbsp (50 ml) vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 egg white

Optional: for the filling

  • grated cheese, ham cut into small cubes, cottage cheese…

For the glaze

  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • sesame or flax seeds


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (355°F).
  2. Sift the flour and baking powder into a large mixing bowl.
  3. Add cream cheese, milk, vegetable oil, salt, and egg white to the dry ingredients.
  4. Combine the ingredients and knead the mixture until it forms a smooth dough.
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
  6. Cut the dough into squares or your preferred shape.
  7. If using, place a small amount of grated cheese in the center of each square before folding or rolling them into buns.
  8. Arrange the buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the buns are golden brown.

Notes

These buns are perfect for parties or unexpected guests. Double the ingredients to make a larger batch. You can add grated cheese as a filling for extra flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
