Scale
- 7 oz (200 g) peas
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp milk
- 1/2 cup (60 g) whole wheat flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 egg
- Olive oil, for frying
- 7 oz (200 g) Greek-style yogurt
- 1 tsp dill
- Salt, to taste
Instructions
- Cook the peas in salted boiling water for 5 minutes until tender. Drain and rinse under cold water to stop the cooking process.
- Mash the peas with a fork until they are partially crushed, leaving some whole for texture.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed peas, milk, whole wheat flour, baking powder, and egg. Mix well until you have a thick batter.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a drizzle of olive oil.
- Spoon the batter into the skillet to form fritters, flattening them slightly with the back of the spoon.
- Fry the fritters for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- In a small bowl, mix the Greek-style yogurt with dill and a pinch of salt to make the dip.
- Serve the fritters warm with the yogurt dip on the side.
Notes
These fritters are best served immediately while warm and crispy. You can substitute dill with mint or parsley for a different flavor. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days and reheated in a skillet. Pair with steamed rice or a salad for a complete meal.
