Description

A unique and flavorful Indian-style salad featuring crisp radishes and crunchy roasted peanuts. A warm dressing of tempered mustard and cumin seeds adds a fragrant, spicy kick.


Ingredients

  • 8 to 10 Small Radishes (tops trimmed and quartered)
  • 1/2 cup (118ml) Roasted Peanuts (coarsely chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) Oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1.2ml) Mustard seeds
  • 1/4 cup (59ml) Cumin seeds
  • 1/8 teaspoon (0.6ml) Asafoetida (hing)
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1.2ml) turmeric
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1.2ml) salt

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the mustard and cumin seeds and once the seeds splutter, add the turmeric, asafoetida, and salt.
  2. Remove the pan from heat and add the lemon juice and let the mixture cool.
  3. Just before serving, arrange the radishes and the chopped peanuts in a bowl, pour the dressing over the top, and mix thoroughly. Serve right away!
