This homemade BBQ sauce is a flavorful blend of ketchup, vinegar, and spices, perfect for summer grilling and sure to become your new favorite.

- 1 tbsp butter
- 1/2 onion, very finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
- 1 1/2 cups (350 g) ketchup
- 1/3 cup (80 ml) cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup (50 g) sugar
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp Tabasco sauce
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
Instructions
- Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Add the very finely chopped onion and minced garlic to the pan. Season with salt and pepper.
- Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onion is soft and translucent.
- Add the ketchup, cider vinegar, sugar, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco sauce, and cayenne pepper to the pan.
- Stir the mixture well and bring it to a simmer.
- Reduce the heat to low and let it cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Let the sauce cool before using or storing.
Notes
Store the BBQ sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Adjust the amount of Tabasco sauce and cayenne pepper to suit your spice preference. This sauce pairs well with grilled meats, vegetables, and even fruits.
