Scale
- 1-1/2 sticks unsalted butter
- 1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- Pinch of salt
- 1-1/2 cups light brown sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp amaretto
- 1/2 cup Nutella (or chocolate hazelnut spread)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×9 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Continue to cook, swirling the pan occasionally, until the butter foams and begins to turn a light brown color and smells nutty, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat immediately to prevent burning.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the browned butter and light brown sugar, stirring until smooth.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract and amaretto.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly. Drop spoonfuls of Nutella over the batter, then spread the remaining batter on top, smoothing it out.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the blondies to cool in the pan before cutting into squares and serving.
Notes
Brown the butter carefully to avoid burning; it should smell nutty and have a light brown color. These blondies are best stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. You can substitute the Nutella with any chocolate hazelnut spread.
