Description

A twist on a classic! Creamy avocado and sharp Gouda elevate this simple grilled cheese to gourmet status.


Ingredients

  • 0.5 cups (118 ml) avocado
  • 1 slice lime
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 2 slices bread
  • Butter
  • 4-5 slices Gouda cheese
  • Tomato slices
  • Onion slices

Instructions

  1. Slice the avocados and dress them with lime juice, salt, and pepper.
  2. In a skillet over medium-low heat, butter each slice of bread and cook for 2 minutes per side, or until the butter is absorbed.
  3. Place cheese slices on both sides of the bread and warm until slightly melted; loosely cover the skillet to speed up the process.
  4. Spread avocado slices, tomatoes, and onions evenly on one side of the bread. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Close the sandwich and grill for 7-10 minutes, or until the bread is browned and the cheese is melted.
  6. Transfer the sandwich to a plate and serve.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use a good quality, aged Gouda cheese.
  • To prevent the bread from becoming soggy, avoid overcrowding the pan.
