Description

Buttery, cheesy seafood spread atop toasted baguette slices.
Perfect for parties or a fancy appetizer.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 8 oz (227 g) shrimp
  • 0.5 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper
  • 4 oz (113 g) cream cheese
  • 0.5 cups (118 ml) freshly grated Parmesan
  • 1 small garlic clove
  • 6 oz (170 g) lump crab meat
  • 2 tbsp parsley leaves
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes
  • 1 baguette

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (204°C).
  2. Prepare the Shrimp: Season shrimp with salt and pepper. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add shrimp and cook for 2 minutes per side, or until opaque and cooked through. Remove from skillet and cool.
  3. Chop the shrimp into small bite-sized pieces.

Prepare the Spread

  1. Soften the cream cheese: Microwave cream cheese in a microwave-safe bowl for 40 seconds, or until softened but not melted.
  2. Mix the ingredients: Add grated Parmesan, drained crab meat, finely grated garlic, chopped parsley, and red pepper flakes (if using) to the softened cream cheese. Stir until combined.
  3. Add the shrimp: Fold in the chopped shrimp until evenly distributed.
  4. Prepare the Baguette: Slice baguette into 3/4-inch thick slices.
  5. Assemble the Crostini: Top each baguette slice with 1-2 tablespoons of seafood spread.
  6. Bake: Place crostini on a baking tray. Bake in the preheated oven for 4-5 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle with chopped parsley (optional). Serve warm.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use high-quality lump crab meat.
  • To prevent soggy crostini, toast baguette slices lightly before adding the spread.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
