Chocolate almond cake

Ingredients

  • 4.4 oz (125 g) butter
  • 13.2 oz (375 g) dark chocolate
  • 1 cup (175 g) brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup (35 g) all-purpose flour, sifted
  • 1 cup (120 g) finely ground almonds
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 5 eggs
  • cocoa powder
  • softly whipped cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325F (170C).
  2. Place the butter and chocolate in a bowl and either microwave in short bursts until melted or melt in a heatproof bowl over a saucepan of simmering water.
  3. Add the sugar, flour, milk and ground almonds and mix to combine.
  4. Add the eggs and mix well.
  5. Pour mixture into a greased 8.7 inch (22cm) round springform tin lined with non-stick baking paper.
  6. Cover the tin with aluminium foil and bake for 40 minutes.
  7. Uncover and cool in the tin.
  8. Dust with cocoa and serve with cream.
