A quick and satisfying one-pan meal, this skillet combines lean ground turkey and crisp broccoli in a savory Swiss cheese sauce. Perfect for a busy weeknight.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 pound (454g) lean ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup (118ml) diced yellow onion
  • 2 cups (473ml) broccoli florets
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5ml) garlic powder
  • 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon (1.2 to 2.5ml) dried thyme
  • Kosher salt and fresh ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 1/2 cups (355ml) lowfat milk
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) flour
  • 3/4 cup (177ml) shredded Swiss cheese

Instructions

  1. Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. When the skillet is hot, spray with cooking oil and add in the ground turkey.
  3. Crumble the turkey with a wooden spoon and cook for about 4 minutes.
  4. Add in the diced onion, dijon mustard, garlic powder, thyme, salt, and pepper and stir everything together, cooking until the turkey is thoroughly cooked, about 3-4 more minutes.
  5. Add in the broccoli florets and cook until they turn bright green and are tender, about 3-4 minutes.
  6. In a measuring glass, whisk together the milk and flour, then add it to the skillet.
  7. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer for 5 minutes or until thickened.
  8. Remove from the heat and stir in the Swiss cheese until it’s melted.
  9. Season with more salt and pepper if needed and serve immediately.
