Description

These sweet tortilla chips are a quick and delicious alternative to traditional buñuelos, perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth.


Ingredients

  • 4 flour tortillas, either homemade or store-bought
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (392°F).
  2. In a deep bowl, combine 1/4 cup sugar and 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon until well mixed.
  3. Stack the flour tortillas and, depending on their size, cut them into wedges or strips.
  4. Brush each tortilla piece lightly with olive oil or melted butter on both sides.
  5. Dip each piece into the cinnamon sugar mixture, ensuring both sides are coated.
  6. Place the coated tortilla pieces in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes or until the chips are golden brown and crispy.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

It helps if the tortillas are a few days old or are dry, as this makes them crisp up quicker. You could also leave fresher tortillas out on the counter for 30 minutes before baking. These chips are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for a couple of days.
