Ingredients
Units
Scale
- 4 oz (115 g) cream cheese, softened (I used 1/3 less fat neufchâtel)
- 2 oz (60 g) traditional Danish Blue cheese, crumbled
- 1 tbsp canola oil
- 1 lb (450 g) ground grass-fed beef
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 4 slices bacon, cooked until crispy
- 4 hamburger buns, toasted
- 4 leaves of lettuce
- 1 large heirloom tomato, sliced
Instructions
- Prepare the whipped blue cheese: Place the softened cream cheese and blue cheese in a small bowl and beat at medium speed until combined and nicely whipped. Set aside.
- Prepare the burgers: Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Form the ground beef into 4 patties and season both sides with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
- Brush the grill grates with canola oil to prevent sticking. Place the burger patties on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
- Assemble the burgers: Spread a generous amount of whipped blue cheese on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Top with a lettuce leaf, a burger patty, a slice of crispy bacon, and a slice of heirloom tomato. Cover with the top half of the bun.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your BLT Blue Cheese Burger!
Notes
- For best results, use ripe heirloom tomatoes for maximum flavor.
- The whipped blue cheese can be prepared in advance and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- If you prefer a spicier kick, add a dash of hot sauce to the whipped blue cheese.
- Grass-fed beef is recommended for a juicier, more flavorful burger.
