Description

This delightful candy cane cocoa, layered in a jar, is a festive treat perfect for gifting or enjoying on a cozy winter day.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup (240 ml) powdered milk
  • 1 cup (240 ml) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup (240 ml) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) miniature chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) crushed peppermint candy

Instructions

  1. In a 1-quart jar, layer the ingredients in the following order: powdered milk, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, salt, miniature chocolate chips, and crushed peppermint candy. Seal the jar tightly.
  2. To prepare a serving, mix the jar’s contents in a large bowl to ensure even distribution of ingredients.
  3. For each serving, heat 1 cup of milk or water on the stove until hot but not boiling. Stir in 1/3 cup of the cocoa mixture until the chocolate chips and peppermint are fully dissolved.
  4. Pour into a mug and top with marshmallows if desired. Serve with sour cream doughnut holes or freshly baked cookies for an extra treat.

Notes

  • Store the cocoa mixture in an airtight container to keep it fresh.
  • For a richer flavor, use milk instead of water.
  • Add marshmallows on top for an extra treat.
  • This makes a wonderful holiday gift when presented in a decorative jar.
