Description

Get your spicy fix with these incredibly easy buffalo tofu bites. They’re perfect as a game-day appetizer or a light, plant-based main.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 block of firm or extra firm tofu (pressed)
  • 1/4 cup (59ml) hot sauce
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) vegan butter
  • Olive oil

Instructions

  1. Begin by pressing the water out of your tofu block for at least 30-45 minutes. Once pressed, slice into cubes or strips.
  2. Heat some olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat (175°C to 190°C). Place the tofu in carefully and brown on all sides. Remove and place on a plate lined with a paper towel to drain excess oil.
  3. While the tofu cools, place a small saucepan over a low flame. Add the hot sauce and vegan butter. Whisk until the sauce is blended and heated through.
  4. Add the tofu and gently coat the cubes with the sauce until heated through.
  5. Place on a platter or bowl to serve.

Notes

Pressing the tofu is crucial for achieving the right texture, so don’t skip this step. These tofu bites can be made ahead of time and reheated in the sauce just before serving. Serve with a side of celery sticks and vegan ranch for a classic buffalo experience.
