- 1/2 cup (120 ml) sugar
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) cocoa powder
- 3 very ripe bananas, mashed well
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) plain yogurt
- 6 tbsp (90 g) butter, melted and slightly cooled
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup (240 ml) chocolate chunks
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour the bottom of a loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder until well combined.
- In another bowl, mix the mashed bananas with the yogurt, egg, vanilla extract, and melted butter until smooth.
- Pour the banana mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Fold in the chocolate chunks gently.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread it evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
Notes
- For best results, use very ripe bananas as they add more sweetness and moisture.
- You can store the bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
- To make it a decadent dessert, serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or turn it into a chocolate banana bread pudding with caramel sauce.
