Description

Crispy bacon, sweet pears, and tangy pickled brussels sprouts make this leftover turkey sandwich a winner. Perfect for game day!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 8 oz (227 g) fresh turkey breast
  • 2-6 inch french baguettes
  • 6 oz (170 g) fresh brussel sprouts
  • 3 Tbsp mayo
  • 2 Tbsp cider vinegar
  • 2 slices cooked bacon
  • 1 red pear
  • 0.5 cups (118 ml) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1.5 tsp Bells Poultry seasoning
  • 1 Tbsp Butter
  • 2 tsp white sugar
  • 1 tsp celery seed
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Place vinegar, sugar, pepper, and celery seed in a medium mixing bowl and mix until the sugar is dissolved.
  2. Add Brussels sprouts and mix. Allow to sit for a minimum of 15 minutes.
  3. On an oven-safe pan, place turkey in a single layer, top with cheddar cheese, and then top with chopped bacon.
  4. Place under the broiler to melt the cheese.
  5. Spread butter on sliced baguette and grill (flat side down) in a sauté pan until browned.
  6. Top the bottom of the bread with pear slices.
  7. Top with ½ of the turkey, bacon, and cheese from the broiler.
  8. Drain the sprouts and top the turkey with half of the sprouts.
  9. Combine Bell’s poultry seasoning with mayonnaise to make a mayo spread.
  10. Finish the sandwich with the mayo spread.

Notes

  • For optimal pear flavor, use a ripe but firm pear. Avoid overly soft pears which may become mushy.
  • If you don’t have a broiler, you can melt the cheese on the turkey in a skillet over medium-low heat.
  • Leftover sandwiches can be wrapped tightly in plastic wrap and stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
