Description

Cream cheese and strawberry preserves fill fluffy brioche in this stunning
breakfast treat. A simple yet elegant start to your day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 slices brioche
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) whipped cream cheese
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) strawberry preserves
  • 2 eggs (2 eggs)
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) 2% milk
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) unsalted butter
  • 2-3 fresh strawberries
  • Powdered sugar
  • Maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Spread the cream cheese and preserves on one slice of bread. Top with the other slice.
  2. Melt the butter in a non-stick pan over medium heat.
  3. Whisk the egg, milk, nutmeg, and vanilla in a shallow bowl or baking dish. Place the brioche sandwich in the mixture, soaking each side for 1 minute. Let the excess drip off before transferring to the hot skillet.
  4. Cook the french toast until it’s golden brown on both sides.
  5. Slice the french toast, top with strawberries, a dusting of powdered sugar and maple syrup.

Notes

  • For richer flavor, use high-quality strawberry preserves with visible fruit pieces.
  • If brioche is stale, lightly toast it before assembling to prevent sogginess.
  • Leftover French toast can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days and reheated in a toaster oven or skillet.
