breakfast treat. A simple yet elegant start to your day.

Scale
- 2 slices brioche
- 2 tbsp (30 ml) whipped cream cheese
- 1 tbsp (15 ml) strawberry preserves
- 2 eggs (2 eggs)
- 2 tbsp (30 ml) 2% milk
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 1 tbsp (15 ml) unsalted butter
- 2-3 fresh strawberries
- Powdered sugar
- Maple syrup
Instructions
- Spread the cream cheese and preserves on one slice of bread. Top with the other slice.
- Melt the butter in a non-stick pan over medium heat.
- Whisk the egg, milk, nutmeg, and vanilla in a shallow bowl or baking dish. Place the brioche sandwich in the mixture, soaking each side for 1 minute. Let the excess drip off before transferring to the hot skillet.
- Cook the french toast until it’s golden brown on both sides.
- Slice the french toast, top with strawberries, a dusting of powdered sugar and maple syrup.
Notes
- For richer flavor, use high-quality strawberry preserves with visible fruit pieces.
- If brioche is stale, lightly toast it before assembling to prevent sogginess.
- Leftover French toast can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days and reheated in a toaster oven or skillet.
