Description

Sweet pears and salty gorgonzola combine beautifully on this crispy flatbread. A simple appetizer or light dinner, perfect with Riesling.

Ingredients

  • Store-bought or homemade pizza dough/flatbread
  • Thinly sliced pear or apple
  • Crumbled gorgonzola (goat cheese, feta or blue cheese)
  • Shredded Italian blend or mozzarella cheese
  • Sliced prosciutto (cut into thick pieces)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to the temperature specified in the dough instructions.
  2. Prepare the dough and other ingredients according to their instructions.
  3. Precook the dough if the instructions indicate to do so.
  4. Layer the dough with shredded Italian cheese, then top with pear slices, prosciutto, and gorgonzola cheese chunks.
  5. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the crust is golden.
  6. Cut and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a crispier crust, pre-bake the flatbread for 5 minutes before adding toppings.
  • If pears are unavailable, thinly sliced apples make a delicious substitute.
  • Store leftover flatbread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 day, or freeze for longer storage.
