Description

This elegant pizza combines the sweetness of fresh figs with salty prosciutto and pungent gorgonzola, all drizzled with a rich balsamic glaze. It’s a perfect blend of sophisticated flavors for a memorable meal.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 4 Figs (thinly sliced)
  • Pizza dough
  • 1/2 tablespoon (7.4ml) olive oil
  • 1/2 tablespoon (7.4ml) balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5ml) salt
  • Gorgonzola cheese (crumbled)
  • Figs
  • Prosciutto
  • 1/2 cup (118ml) shallot
  • 3/4 cup (177ml) arugula
  • Balsamic glaze (for drizzle)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a small bowl, add 1/4 tablespoon (3.7 ml) olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and salt. Toss the sliced figs in this mixture.
  3. In a frying pan, gently cook the shallot in a little olive oil over medium heat for 3-5 minutes, until softened.
  4. Brush the rolled out pizza dough with the remaining olive oil. Sprinkle Gorgonzola cheese crumbles on top. Place the pizza in the oven until the dough turns golden (baking time will depend on the thickness and type of dough).
  5. Once the dough is golden, remove from the oven and top with strips of Prosciutto. Sprinkle with the cooked shallots.
  6. Place the pizza back in the oven and bake for 2 minutes to warm the toppings.
  7. Remove the pizza from the oven, dress with arugula, and drizzle with balsamic glaze. Add additional crumbled cheese if desired.
