Scale
- 1 baguette
- 4 ounces (113 g) soft goat cheese
- 1/3 cups (79 ml) walnuts
- 1/4 cups (59 ml) basil leaves
- 1/4 cups (59 ml) local honey
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice the baguette into 1/2-inch rounds and arrange on a baking sheet. Brush lightly with olive oil and toast for 6-8 minutes until golden and crisp on the edges.
- While the bread toasts, roughly chop the walnuts. For better flavor, toast them in a dry skillet over medium heat for 3-4 minutes, shaking the pan occasionally, until they smell nutty and are lightly browned.
- In a small bowl, crumble or gently stir the soft goat cheese with the toasted walnuts and torn basil leaves. Don’t overmix; you want chunks of cheese visible.
- Spoon a generous amount of the goat cheese mixture onto each toasted baguette slice.
- Drizzle each bruschetta with honey and serve immediately while the bread is still warm and crisp.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, toast the walnuts in a dry pan before mixing with the goat cheese.
- If goat cheese is too firm, let it sit at room temperature for 15-20 minutes to soften.
- Store assembled bruschetta in the refrigerator for up to 2 hours before serving to prevent the bread from becoming soggy.
