Scale
- 6 - 8 slices of bacon
- 2 Tbsp butter, melted
- 1 cup flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 Tbsp pure maple syrup (plus more for serving)
- 1 cup milk
- 1 egg
Instructions
- Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Cut bacon into pieces small enough to fit across your waffle iron; cutting each piece into thirds usually works well.
- Cook bacon on the waffle iron, placing 2 pieces per section (adjust based on your iron’s size). Cook until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix melted butter, maple syrup, milk, and egg until well combined.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Fold in the cooked bacon pieces.
- Pour the batter onto the preheated waffle iron, using about 1/2 cup of batter per waffle, or according to your waffle iron’s instructions.
- Cook until the waffles are golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes.
- Serve immediately with additional maple syrup if desired.
Notes
For extra bacon flavor, cook the bacon directly on the waffle iron. You can also pan fry or bake the bacon if preferred. Use real maple syrup for the best taste. These waffles are best enjoyed fresh but can be frozen and reheated in a toaster for a quick breakfast.
