Description

A quick and savory Indian breakfast, this poha is ready in minutes. Perfect for a busy weekday morning!


Ingredients

  • 1 medium potato
  • 1 tbsp roasted groundnuts
  • Salt
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) oil
  • 1 green chilly
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1/4 tsp lemon juice
  • 1/4 tsp fennel seeds
  • Few curry leaves and coriander leaves

Instructions

  1. Rinse beaten rice in a strainer and keep aside for 5-10 minutes.
  2. Peel and chop onion, green chili, and potato into very fine slices.
  3. Heat oil and splutter mustard and fennel seeds.
  4. Add chopped green chili, onion, potato, curry leaves, salt, sugar, and turmeric powder; combine well.
  5. Cover and cook for 3-4 minutes.
  6. Add soaked beaten rice and lemon juice; combine well and remove from heat.
  7. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve with a sprinkle of spicy mixture.
