Description

This Cinnamon Apple Baked Toast is a delightful breakfast treat featuring sweet challah bread topped with cinnamon-spiced apples, honey, and crunchy nuts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 slices of sweet bread (preferably challah)
  • 1 tablespoon of melted unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1 apple, peeled and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons of honey
  • 2 teaspoons of chopped walnuts or hazelnuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Brush both sides of the 2 slices of sweet bread with melted butter.
  3. Sprinkle each slice with ground cinnamon, ensuring even coverage.
  4. Arrange the apple slices on top of the bread slices, overlapping slightly if needed.
  5. Drizzle the apple-topped bread with honey.
  6. Sprinkle chopped walnuts or hazelnuts over the top.
  7. Place the prepared slices on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the edges of the bread are golden brown.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For the best texture, use day-old bread. Challah is recommended for its creamy texture, but other types can be used. Adjust the amount of cinnamon, honey, or nuts to suit your taste. This dish is perfect for a quick breakfast and will make your kitchen smell like Christmas morning.
