Description
Glazed bacon, creamy blue cheese, and a flavorful bison patty make this burger a grilling winner. Fire up the grill and enjoy this summer favorite.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground bison
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
- 4 Castello Burger Blue Slices
- 8 slices maple brown sugar bacon
- 4 hamburger buns
- Ketchup
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. In a small bowl, mix together 2 tablespoons of maple syrup and 2 tablespoons of brown sugar. Set aside.
- Place a cooling rack on a sheet pan and arrange 8 slices of bacon in a single layer on the rack. Brush the bacon with the maple syrup and brown sugar mixture.
- Bake the bacon in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until crispy and caramelized. Remove from the oven and set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine 1 pound of ground bison with 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/4 teaspoon onion powder, and 1/8 teaspoon pepper. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
- Divide the bison mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each into a patty.
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Grill the bison patties for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
- During the last minute of grilling, place a slice of Castello Burger Blue Cheese on each patty and close the grill lid to melt the cheese slightly.
- Toast the hamburger buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Assemble the burgers by placing each bison patty on a toasted bun, topping with 2 slices of the glazed bacon, and adding ketchup to taste. Serve immediately.
Notes
Bison is leaner than beef and offers more protein with fewer calories. Castello’s blue cheese slices are perfect for burgers, avoiding the crumbly mess of traditional blue cheese. The maple syrup and brown sugar glaze on the bacon adds a sweet and savory touch. Serve immediately for the best taste and texture.
