Description

This recipe whips up the apple into a simple relish and offers you a different way to celebrate the everyday apple.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 11/2 teaspoons freshy grated ginger (my addition)
  • 1 granny smith apple shredded (note, I used a honeycrisp, grated it with the skin on and added 11/2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon red cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon black salt
  • 2 teaspoons minced mint (my addition)

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil on medium heat and add in the mustard seeds and wait for the seeds to crackle.
  2. Stir in the ginger and saute lightly for about 30 seconds.
  3. Add in the apple and saute lightly for about 2 to 3 minutes, until the apple softens and the juices begin to run.
  4. Add in the red cayenne pepper and the black salt and mix well.
  5. Cook for another minute and stir in the mint and mix well. Cool and serve as needed.
