- 2.25 cups (534 ml) whole wheat flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 0.5 cups (118 ml) white sugar
- 0.5 cups (118 ml) firmly packed brown sugar
- 2 sticks (240 ml) butter
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1 cups (237 ml) rolled oats
- 1.5-2 cups (356-473 ml) semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugars until pale and fluffy.
- Add the eggs and vanilla extract; beat until combined.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture; beat until combined.
- Stir in the oats until combined using a wooden spoon.
- Stir in the chocolate chips until combined.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of cookie dough onto a baking sheet.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes.
Notes
- For chewier cookies, use less flour; start with 1.5 cups and add more as needed to achieve desired consistency.
- Substitute dark chocolate chips or chopped nuts for some of the semisweet chocolate chips for added flavor and texture.
- Store baked cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or freeze for longer storage.
