Description

These bite-sized pecan tassies are delightful mini pecan pies that add a festive touch to any dessert spread or cookie platter.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 3 ounces cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • 3/4 - 1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine 3 ounces of cream cheese and 1/2 cup of softened butter until smooth.
  2. Add 1 cup of all-purpose flour to the mixture and knead the dough by hand or mix until it is smooth and well combined.
  3. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for one hour to make it easier to work with.
  4. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Divide the chilled dough into 24 equal pieces and shape them into small balls.
  6. Press each ball into the bottom and up the sides of mini muffin tins to form a crust.
  7. In another bowl, mix together 3/4 cup of brown sugar, 1 egg, and 1 tablespoon of melted butter until well combined.
  8. Stir in 3/4 to 1 cup of chopped pecans into the sugar mixture.
  9. Spoon the pecan filling into each prepared crust, filling them about 3/4 full.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the filling is set and the crust is lightly golden brown.
  11. Allow the pecan tassies to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

These pecan tassies are a family tradition and are perfect for holiday cookie platters. They are easy to make despite their intricate appearance. Store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. You can substitute walnuts if preferred.
